Terms of Service

1. Intellectual property rights

All content published within the Services — including investigative documentaries, news reports, video features, articles, text, graphics, logos, audio clips, digital downloads, and software — is the exclusive property of Gaylan Media or its content suppliers, and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.

• Personal use licence: We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and view the content for personal, non-commercial purposes on your mobile device.
• Prohibited actions: You may not reproduce, redistribute, retransmit, broadcast, modify, create derivative works from, screen-record for commercial distribution, or exploit any portion of our content without express written authorisation from Gaylan Media.

2. User accounts and registration

Certain features, such as premium investigative series or personalised news feeds, require account creation. You register with an email address and a password.

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• You are fully responsible for all activities occurring under your registered account.
• You agree to notify us immediately at legal@gaylanmedia.com of any unauthorised account activity or security breach.

3. Subscriptions and in-app purchases

Gaylan Media offers both free access tiers and paid subscription plans (for example “Gaylan Premium”) granting access to exclusive documentary content and ad-free reporting.

• Billing and processing: Payments are processed by our payment providers — Waafi for mobile money and PayPal for card and PayPal balance. Card and mobile-money credentials are entered with the provider and are never stored on Gaylan Media servers.
• Renewal: A membership runs for the period you paid for. We will tell you before a renewal is taken, and you can stop a membership at any time from Account › Membership.
• Cancellations and refunds: You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the period already paid for. Refund requests should be sent to legal@gaylanmedia.com.

4. Prohibited conduct and acceptable use

When interacting with the Services, including comment sections, user feedback, or interactive features, you agree not to:

• Engage in illegal, defamatory, hateful, harassing, or abusive behaviour toward journalists, staff, or other users.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, compromise, or bypass app security measures, DRM protections, or API infrastructure.
• Use automated scripts, bots, spiders, or scrapers to extract data or media files from the Services.
• Distribute malware, spam, or unauthorised promotional material via the platform.

5. Service modifications and termination

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Services, including availability of specific content features, at any time without notice. We may terminate or suspend your account immediately if you breach these Terms of Service.

6. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability

The Services and all content are provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Gaylan Media does not warrant that the app will be completely uninterrupted, error-free, or free of security vulnerabilities.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gaylan Media shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the Services.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data, and the rights you have over it. It forms part of these Terms.
